What I Wish I Had Known When I First Started Teaching English Language Learners

After years of teaching English Language Learners, I’ve learned that some of the most important lessons aren't found in a textbook or teaching guide. From working with newcomers and beginning ELLs to students who have been learning English for years, I’ve discovered what really helps students build vocabulary, develop confidence, participate in class, and use English. These are the things I wish I had known when I first started teaching ELLs.
